These are a small set of demos sent to Keltin over the course of 2 years, some far before Oath Program or Nec Divinos even became an idea. These tracks are not meant to be taken as a full-fledged album or as official OP songs (except for Picking Favorites), but rather a collection of tracks that give a glimpse of the road taken to arrive where our band is as of now. That and we just wanted to add more songs onto our page.
"Ocean of Steel" and "Bloodstreams" are the two oldest demos and they were made way before we even considered making a band. They were recorded in a bone-chillingly cold camper during the winter of 2019 and let us be the first to tell you that these demos aren't good.
During this time both of us were in high school working low paying jobs so our setup was about as cheap as could get. The closest thing I had to real synthesizers was a knockoff Casio keyboard with an almost broken multi-FX pedal, a Volca FM that I had no idea how to use, and a sampler that I would record individual notes to and use as a sequencer. I didn't even have a way to record a clean signal, I used my phone's microphone to record songs form the amplifiers and as a result you can hear random noises in the background of these songs. To say we were desperate would be a vast understatement. However, with all that being said, both of us still use these as inspiration for our sound. As poorly preformed and recorded the tracks are, they show a level of creativity that we aspire to during every session.
"Picking Favorites" is a very recent cut from November 14th, 2021. This is a demo of a song that was originally supposed to be on our upcoming debut album, but we decided against it as it didn't necessarily fit the tone that we want for the album. We're putting it here instead as a sort of teaser because we didn't want this track falling to the wayside, as many of our other demos have.
"Arctic Highway" was recorded directly to an old, worn out tape (see album art) in May of 2021 in Loogootee, Indiana and as of now is the longest ND track. By this time, I had a pretty firm idea of what I wanted our not-yet-created band's sound to be. It was recorded in the dead of night after about 7 hours of off and on sound searching and rehearsing. We weren't entirely sure what we wanted to do with this song for the longest time. We originally postulated the idea of releasing it as a tape with another 30 minute song on the other side, but trying to structure, let alone make another half hour song proved to be way beyond our capabilities. Plus, it would be disingenuous to call it a real ND song when it's a solo recording.
As of now this a digital only release, but we will do a limited run of tapes if there is a demand for it. Note that it won't have the same artwork as the tape on the cover
